Celebration Fundraising Banquet
Our annual Celebration Banquets were held on the evenings of September 21 & 22 at the Ebenezer Church in Abbotsford. The entertainment was provided by singers Amaris and Andrea. Volunteers Jim, Monika & Elsie shared about their experiences serving and cutting up vegetables at the plant. A presentation was given by Ben Hoogendoorn from Food for the Hungry Canada. Ben shared how the Gleaner’s soup and apple snacks have impacted families and children in countries that FFH is working in like, Burundi, South Africa and Nicaragua. Donations received at the banquets exceeded over $135,000 for operating and production costs. Love Guatemala Canada
It is amazing what faith can prayer do for your soul. Many people thought we would never see the container of soup and other things. But in God's timing it arrived the middle of September. We have had several organizations come and get soup and a list of those who will come in the next few weeks. Two schools for special needs kids and HIV Children's Hosptial, a Kid's program, feeding program in three small villages that have been devastated by Volcano Fuego. A soup kitchen will open on October 25, also serving the survivors of Fuego. Our cook will be serving soup 7 days a week, 300 bowls a day = 2100 bowls a week or 8200 bowls a month! We have been blessed and we know that those who have cut all the vegetables to packing the bags will also be blessed. Thank you for your prayers. Judy Bergen, Love Guatemala, Canada. |
Gleaner's Expansion 2018
We continue to wait to obtain the building permit for our kitchen, washrooms and office expansion. There are some questions and issues that need to be resolved between ourselves, City of Abbotsford and ALR before we can get our building permit. Please continue to pray for us as we work at this.
